Dining Options
Choose from three restaurants and two lounges, with creative menus that change to reflect the seasons and to offer tempting variety throughout the week – from the bounty of Hawaii’s land and oceans to Tuscan cucina rustica or beachfront barbecues, from Asian-Pacific cuisine to Polynesian pupus (appetisers) and mai tais.
Restaurants Beach Tree Californian with Italian influenceRenowned for its signature style of "barefoot elegance," the transformed Beach Tree has a Hawaiian beach house feel marked by 16-foot (5-metre) vaulted ceilings and expansive water views. Trellised seating allows for al fresco dining, and outdoor lounge spaces set the stage for the perfect beachfront cocktail. Chef de Cuisine Nick Mastrascusa – formerly of 57 restaurant at Four Seasons Hotel New York – oversees a menu featuring California cuisine with Italian influences. Hualalai Grille With a casual yet refined ambience, Hualalai Grille features wood and glass walls that are left open to Hawaiian breezes throughout the day. The bar and south side of the restaurant offer gorgeous views of the 18th hole, while the rest of the restaurant overlooks the manicured grounds of Four Seasons Resort Hualalai. Watch your culinary masterpiece take shape in the exhibition kitchen. Note: Hualalai Grille will be closed from September 1 to December 1, 2010, for renovations. Pahu i`a Sweeping ocean views and brilliant island sunsets provide a magnificent backdrop to the oceanfront dining experience at Pahu i`a, where guests are caressed by tradewinds, waves are illuminated by the stars and the gentle surf endlessly soothes.
While the restaurant's centrepiece is a brilliant aquarium (pahu i`a in Hawaiian), its focal point is the vast cobalt blue ocean and rhythmic, rolling surf merely steps away. At your table, Executive Chef James Babian and his team pay homage to Hawaii's bounty and the surrounding Pacific Ocean. Legendary Four Seasons hospitality and service welcome you, in an inviting atmosphere of relaxed and casual elegance. Naupaka Terrace, an extension of existing lanai (balcony) seating, offers panoramic views of the ocean in an intimate setting. Its name reflects the naupaka kahakai, a native Hawaiian shrub that grows wild along Hawaii's beaches. Its white blossoms appear to be only half of a flower. Legend says that the flower is made whole by joining it with a "half flower" from the naupaka kuahiwi (mountain naupaka), which grows upland.
Pahu i`a has been recognised with numerous awards and accolades, including the AAA Four Diamond, the DiRoNA and the Ivy Award. Seats 184. Lounges Beach Tree bar Wiggle your toes in the sand as you sip exotic tropical drinks at Beach Tree bar – a mere 20 steps from the ocean. The Coconut Adrift and Zen will tempt your taste buds, and the Beach Tree Smash and Tom's Pink Shirt also receive rave reviews. This is the Resort's most picturesque spot for toasting the sunset – providing an unforgettable way to end the day. Lava Lounge Located on the upper level of Pahu i'a restaurant, Lava Lounge offers front-row seats to the stunning sunsets of the Kona-Kohala Coast. The lounge seats up to 33 guests. Join us for a light snack from our tempting pupu menu or indulge in one of our signature thirst-quenchers, such as the Lava-tini or Pineapple Cosmo.
