A Virtuoso Collection property just a short walk from Mozart's birthplace in Salzburg, the five-star Hotel Goldener Hirsch has enjoyed a successful history dating back to 1407. In spite of its international reputation (still, today, a meeting place for international society), this intimate 69-room hotel has maintained the character of a private home -- and an atmosphere of tradition. Each room boasts modern amenities, including minibars, air-conditioning and television. The restaurant, Goldener Hirsch, offers Austrian and international specialties in the most exclusive rendez-vous in Salzburg. And the tavern, Herzl, is the place to meet in the city center. Its folkloristic and cozy atmosphere, combined with a tasty menu, attracts not only hotel guests, but the citizens of Salzburg, as well. The hotel was recently named to Conde Nast Traveler's 2006 Gold List and to the Travel + Leisure magazine Top 500 hotels for 2006.

Salzburg is the most Austrian of cities, and the sound of music is everywhere. In the heart of this lyrical city sits the Hotel Goldener Hirsch, to me one of the most comfortable hotels in the world! The hotel is housed in a building that dates back to 1407 and is full of antiques and beautifully appointed rooms. My room boasted a down comforter, large feather pillows and even an antique doorbell that rang a real bell inside the room. The hotel's restaurant serves authentic Austrian cuisine, and the Herzl Tavern is a cozy meeting place for locals and hotel guests alike. |

The hotel, an old patrician home which dates back to the 13th century, and its rooms are all furnished in a traditional Salzburg style with local country antiques. All room categories have a similar standard (or quality) of furnishings, i.e. individually controlled air-conditioning, soundproof windows, private bath/WC, two/three telephones with two lines, satellite-TV, radio, minibar, etc. The Festival Wing category comprises our largest and most luxurious rooms. These rooms were all recently remodeled. The hotel's guest rooms are furnished in the European standard, i.e. double rooms have either one double bed or two twin beds, to accommodate a total of two guests. The so-called Double/Double combination does not exist. Single-bedded rooms have one single bed, to accommodate one guest. King-sized bedding is available in either the Exclusive, Festival Wing or Suite categories. Rooms in the Classic category are equipped with two twin beds. A very limited number of non-smoking rooms are available in either the Classic or Festival Wing categories. The surcharge for a third bed is AS 900,- (rate valid for the 2001 season!) per night for an adult or a child over the age of 12 yrs., regardless of the room category booked (please note that a third bed is not possible in the Classic category). One child 12 yrs. or younger is free-of-charge when sharing a double room with two adults. Hotel accommodations include 62 Double rooms, 2 single rooms and 5 suites.Reception rooms can accommodate up to 210. Restaurants - "Restaurant Goldener Hirsch", "Herzl".
