There's an aristocratic air at the Hotel Ritz Madrid, where my daughter and I felt like royalty on a recent visit. This baroque, palace-like outpost (part of the Orient-Express Hotels, Trains & Cruises collection) occupies an enviable location near Retiro Park and the Prado and Thyssen Museums. Our Belle Epoque-style room was a delight, outfitted with a handwoven carpet and embroidered linen sheets. Don't miss Goya Restaurant, the place to see and be seen - and to dine on scrumptious modern seasonal Spanish cuisine (the Sunday brunch is fabulous). |
