NEW DEVELOPMENTS AT LA POSTA VECCHIA
This winter we are undergoing additional new developments at La Posta Vecchia to further enhance the level of comfort for our guests.
Both the Tower Suite and Tower Room have been completely renewed and their bathrooms have been fully redesigned with tiles by Devon & Devon. Additionally, all bedrooms will be provided with brand new Sealy mattresses and silk eiderdowns for greater comfort and relax. We are also equipping the house with a brand new air conditioning system throughout the building which will guarantee a more consistent temperature throughout the different areas of the villa.

La Posta Vecchia: Perfect location
J. Paul Getty sure knew how to pick prime real estate. When he decided to move to Europe Mr. Getty purchased La Posta Vecchia, a very historic site facing the Tyrrhenian Sea, about 35 minutes to Rome, 25 minutes to the international airport and 25 minutes to Civitavecchia Port. He set about to transform this former “postal station” into one of the great villas of Europe. When Getty decided to move back to the US in the late 70’s the current owner, Mr. Roberto Scio, purchased the villa and made it his own home.

Splendid Ruins: Hotels Built on History
By MAURA J. CASEY, The New York Times
ON a recent family trip to Italy, I had arranged for our final night to be spent at La Posta Vecchia, a quiet, seaside hotel in Ladispoli, about 25 miles north of Rome. The circa-1640 villa, once owned by J. Paul Getty, is now a 19-room inn furnished with Getty's antique furniture and tapestries. With the open windows bringing in cooling breezes, little could be heard but the sound of the wind and waves. Yet the hotel also gave us an additional, unexpected gift: a fascinating glimpse into daily life as it was lived 2,000 years ago.
La Posta Vecchia, it turns out, is one of a handful of hotels that not only offer proximity to old ruins or historical excavations but also own them.
