Seductively situated in historic Deia, on the Spanish isle of Mallora, La Residencia has been masterfully restored and transformed from two private 16th- and 17th-century manors into a sumptuous, yet unpretentious, hotel showcasing the best of Spain's architectural, cultural and culinary heritage. Basking on 30 acres of verdant olive and citrus groves, La Residencia's plantation-turned-playground is the quintessential pleasure zone.

We regretted having only one night to spend at La Residencia, and we plan to go back for our ten-year wedding anniversary. Located in Deia, a very small and charming coastal village, this gem of a hotel is bordered by mountains on one side and the Mediterranean on the other. Two manor houses dating from the 16th and 17th centuries provide style, charm and character and house the spacious and beautifully decorated guestrooms. Take advantage of the two swimming pools and small but indulgent spa. The service and cuisine were exceptional - we can't wait to return! |

La Residencia opens this year on the 1st of April after several refurbishment and changes such as the relocaton of the gym next to the Spa area, the new 8 Suites with a private garden, located in a separate building near the pool area, a new lift access to the suites and gym area and a new lift access to the suites and gym area. La Residencia is situated in the charming coastal and mountain village of Deia on the northwest coast of Mallorca. The village was once home to Robert Graves and has been chosen as residence by a number of writers and artists. The village has spectacular views of both mountains and sea. The hotel has a dramatic backdrop of an amphitheatre of lofty mountain crags and offers a stunning panorama over the blue Mediterranean below. The hotel consists of four buildings; two of which date from the XVI and XVII centuries respectively and were originally manor houses. Son Fony, dates from the 18th century and was renovated four years ago. Son Fony II, is an entirely new construction but its design is totally in keeping with the other three. The buildings were first converted into a hotel in 1984, maintaining as many original features as possible. The hotel is now totally owned by Orient Express Hotel Group and is part of Small Leading Hotels of the World. All interiors and exteriors of the hotel are in traditional Mallorcan architectural style with furnishings and fittings of great beauty. Much of the furniture consists of antique pieces, many of these from Mallorca, which blend in with the surroundings and add charm to the building. Throughout the hotel, visitors are able to admire a wonderful art collection - all work of local artists. The property has 32 doubles, 4 singles, 17 junior suites, 2 superior suites and 3 deluxe suites with private pool and 1 deluxe suite with plunge pool. Fresh flowers and fruit are placed in all rooms each day. Amenities include two outdoor pools, a spa with an indoor heated pool, gymnasium, sauna, outdoor Jacuzzi, two tennis courts, steam room and beauty salon with 6 tratment rooms which offers a range of beauty treatments including massage, TechnicSPA, Aura-soma, Citrus Siesta, facials and general body pampering. Hairdressing and barber service a few days per week. The El Olivo Restaurant, which occupies what was once the Son Moragues olive press, is renowned as being one of the best restaurants in Spain. In addition, we have a more informal/casual bistro style restaurant called Son Fony, a lounge bar, pool bar/restaurant and a beach bar. Classical music concerts are organized mainly in the winter season. Art exhibitions are held throughout the year.
