I spent my most recent birthday in Prague, a city I had always longed to visit for its historic architecture and magical appeal. Home base was the brand-new Mandarin Oriental, Prague. set inside a lovingly restored 14th-century monastery. From this left bank setting, I could spend hours strolling the quiet cobblestone streets. Later, from my individually designed suite, I had a bird's-eye view of the ancient spires and rooftops of the neighborhood. The fantastic allure of Prague comes from its historic architecture. To create Mandarin Oriental, Prague we adopted the spirit of the city by carefully restoring a 14th century monastery that must be seen and experienced to be believed.

Here, on the left bank of the Vltava River, are quiet, cobbled streets and the city's most picturesque houses under the watchful guard of Prague Castle. Guests can marvel at views of the city's ancient spires and red rooftops from our individually designed rooms and suites or indulge in our world-class Spa, located on the site of a small Renaissance church. Not to be outdone, our Baroque dining room is a fitting showcase for our innovative approach to cuisine and our Grand Ballroom, crowned by vaulted ceilings, is the ideal location for special occasions and meetings.

Each room has its own individual features; you will find high ceilings, some vaulted, some arched. Others have tall windows through which shafts of light pour through, spilling over the original parquet flooring polished over hundreds of years. Limestone bathrooms, with heated floors are created as private spas and equipped with rejuvenating aromatherapy essential oils and balms. All 99 guest rooms including 22 suites are fitted with extremely sophisticated audio visual equipment, including two LCD high definition televisions, three in every suite, and high speed internet connections.

Last but not least, our beautiful Monastery Lounge, set amongst a breathtaking colonnade, formerly a cloister corridor, is the place to be to enjoy our world-famous afternoon tea.

The most soothing experience for someone wearied by touring the marvelous sites is to relax in our Spa, situated in the serene confines of a former Renaissance Church. Situated within a small Renaissance chapel our Spa is a unique space where you will find equilibrium between body, mind and spirit. During the restoration, the ancient remnants of a Gothic church were discovered and have been preserved as a historic feature under a glass floor. For complete privacy guests can retreat in their robes through an underground passageway linked directly to the main building and their rooms. Entering the Spa you will leave behind the past and glide into the present as our professional therapists guide you through personalised treatments, to a perfect state of wellbeing. This is a two-floor spiritual oasis with seven private treatment rooms, two of which are couples' suites for simultaneous therapies. Loosen limbs and soothe muscles in our hydrotherapy and heat areas including vitality pool and water massage.

After your treatment, retire to our relaxation area and fully savour the transcendent experience. In addition, we offer a beauty treatment room for full service; manicure, pedicure, facials. Professional make-up services are also available. Our fitness centre is equipped with state of the art cardio vascular and weight training machines. The services of a personal trainer are available.
