A perfect slice of heaven in the idyllic Umbrian countryside, Palazzo Terranova is a luxurious 17th-century villa that has changed little over the centuries. Romantic balconies invite the starry-eyed to linger over views of the misty Umbrian hills, while downstairs, delicious local foods and wines delight the most discerning gourmets. Special touches in¬clude a beautiful swimming pool, spa treatments — and the owner's choice to offer just eight bedrooms. Each of the rooms reflects the art and opera of the region, including La Boheme, with its red walls, and La Biblioteca, with its hand-carved fireplace. ![]() |

Palazzo Terranova is an exclusive and luxurious country house hotel nestling in the hills of Umbria. This idyllic, rustic scene has changed little since the late 17th century when the palazzo’s original owners gazed from the romantic Romeo and Juliet balconies. High in the tranquil hills of Umbria, among the most poetic of Italian landscapes, the good life - La Dolce Vita - still reigns. This small luxury hotel is also a temple to luxury and comfort, offering the choice of swimming in the sublime pool, enjoying aromatic, spoiling treatments, or relaxing in soft towelling robes in spacious suites. Guests can dine on delicious local food and wine at the hotel’s private and romantic restaurant, and sleep deeply in over-sized beds among the finest soft cottons. If the Italians had one word for ‘cleansing the soul’ it would be … Terranova. |

This small luxury hotel is also a temple of luxury and comfort, offering the choice of swimming in the sublime pool, enjoying aromatic, spoiling treatments, or relaxing in soft toweling robes in spacious suites. Guests can dine on delicious local food and wine at the hotel’s private and romantic restaurant, and sleep deeply in over-sized beds among the finest soft cottons. If the Italians had one word for ‘cleansing the soul’ it would be … Terranova. Art and opera have married to produce a collection of 8 rooms, each deeply romantic and immaculately decorated in colors influenced by the 15th century painter Piero della Francesca, and their names inspired by operas and operatic characters. The rouge-walled La Boheme, complete with Jacuzzi spa, is perfect for honeymooners while La Traviata is full of spirit and space, its walls painted the yellow of sun-bleached corn with shades of summer green trompe l’oeil decoration.. All bedrooms, and tranquil sitting rooms, are blessed with uplifting Umbrian sunlight flooding in through the windows. Guests can enjoy intimate lunches and dinners in Palazzo Terranova's vaulted dining room and have lunch and dinner on the outside terrace during the warmer months. The Terrace has stunning views across the hills and valley and on a clear day the nearest ski mountain Monte Amiata can be seen. For 'al fresco' dining there are pizza evenings where everyone can join in and make their own pizza in the traditional wood oven. Guests can relax before dinner in the luxurious bar and sit beside the log burning fire whilst enjoying a Terranova cocktail or a glass of Umbrian wine. At Palazzo Terranova we have a passion for hospitality and cooking that is made to share. Come and experience the very best of Umbrian living with our Cooking Classes, special weekends and short breaks. The Terranova Kitchen is open all year round to guests for individual or group tuition from our Chef Patrizio Cesarini. Whatever your culinary ability or interests we are happy to customize classes to your needs and share our love of Italian cuisine with you. The 40 foot swimming pool enjoys the same stunning views as the Palazzo, and the recently added fitness centre with cross trainer, treadmill, weights and exercise bike takes advantage of the surrounding mountain views. There is also a Jacuzzi, changing rooms and showers for the guests to use. A variety of spa treatments are available as well. Palazzo Terranova is situated on the border of Umbria and Tuscany, so during your stay, you will be able to discover hidden mediaeval villages of Umbria, but also see the well-known towns and sights of Tuscany. If your interests are historical, artistic or aesthetic, you will find a treasure not too far away. |
