One of my favorite experiences at Park Hyatt Paris-Vendome was dining at the Pur Grill Restaurant. Head chef Jean-Francois Rouquette brings years of experience to the table, ensuring a delightful meal. (Ask about the La Table du Chef - you'll meet the chef and sample French products, Champagnes and wines.) Our room overlooking the peaceful courtyard was a delight as well, finished in impeccable detail with wood, bronze and silk and boasting a limestone bath with heated flooring and a large soaking tub. For a romantic apres-dinner drink, head to one of the cozy fireplace lounges.

Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme is an elegant boutique hotel, ideally located in the heart of Paris on the prestigious Rue de la Paix, and is within walking distance of the Place Vendôme and the Place de la Concorde. The Louvre and the Musée d'Orsay, as well as other major Paris landmarks such as the Opéra, are also nearby, together with Paris' most exclusive shops at Rue du Faubourg St Honoré.

The hotel's 178 spacious guest rooms, including 35 suites, have been custom-designed, simultaneously offering a relaxing haven of luxurious comfort and the benefit of cutting-edge communications. Seventeen guest rooms and suites have terraces or balconies. All rooms have Bang & Olufsen entertainment systems, satellite television, and complimentary high-speed Internet “plug & play” access. Bathrooms feature floor-to-ceiling mahogany sliding panels. Sandy-beige French limestone complements bronze fixtures that have been specially commissioned for the hotel. Heated floors, deep-soaking tubs, and stone-enclosed rain showers with sinks for in-shower shaving, all contribute to that extra comfort and exclusive feel.

From the innovative seasonal menu at the main restaurant, Le Grill, to the specially selected china from Jaune de Chrome's Christian Lepage, close attention to detail and subtle fine-tuning are what make the dining experience at Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme like no other. The main restaurant, Le Grill, features a grill and offers an exciting “gastronomie” based around the seasons. The Salons, with their glass conservatory and central fireplace, provide an elegant meeting place throughout the day for drinks and light fare. Overlooking La Terrasse, the interior courtyard is the Bar, serving a variety of refreshments and cocktails.

Hotel facilities include a Spa with a gym, three treatment rooms with wood floors, mahogany walls, stone showers and gilded cornices as well as separate facilities for women and men with steam rooms and saunas for peaceful relaxation. Other services include valet parking, private parking and three public car parks close by, 24-hour Concierge, multi-lingual staff, same-day laundry and dry-cleaning service, 24-hour room service, a Technology Concierge and full secretarial support around-the-clock.

Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme offers a total of eight meeting rooms, including six versatile reception rooms, which are ideal for hosting Paris events from banquets and gala dinners to high-profile business meetings or seminars.

Renovation update:

The management of Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme is constantly concerned with ensuring that everything at the hotel contributes to the comfort and wellbeing of guests. With a view to widening the services available, a number of ambitious and pleasing alterations will be made to the hotel’s suites and spa between now and 30th May 2007.

Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme is the capital’s leading contemporary 5-star hotel and has cultivated a tradition of paying close attention to the needs and desires of its guests, which has contributing greatly to the development of its services over time. These efforts have been rewarded, with the readers of Condé Nast Traveler voting Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme joint second in Paris in a ranking of the 100 best hotels in the world published in November 2006.

The planned modifications are designed to increase guest comfort in the suites and the spa, and are part of the hotel’s policy of offering even more attentive service. All of the renovations will be undertaken by the famous interior designer Ed Tuttle, who also designed the hotel. The suites will feature tailormade furniture, the finest materials, works of art and high technology. Some of the suites will include an “In-Suite Spa”, combining the bathroom with a whirlpool bath, a combined shower and Turkish bath, and a massage table.

The new Prestige Suites will be distributed over the first five floors of the hotel. Each of them will have an additional connecting room to offer up to 150 sq m of space. The Presidential Suite on the second floor will have a spectacular high ceiling and two additional connecting rooms. This 250 sq m Suite will offer 85 sq m of living space area. On the fifth floor, another 200 sq m Presidential Suite will embody the charm of sloping-roofed Parisian apartments, with a balcony running along its entire length overlooking the classy Rue de la Paix and majestic Place Vendôme. The existing Presidential Suite on the sixth floor will change its look, adding a beautiful office space, an “In-Suite Spa” under a glass roof and a redesigned living room.

In order to boost guests’ fitness and wellbeing, the hotel’s spa will be entirely remodelled to accentuate the feeling of it being an exclusive sanctuary, enhanced by scents created by the house perfumer, Blaise Mautin. The expansion of the spa will include a larger reception area, a whirlpool bath, a sauna, a Turkish bath, the creation of a relaxation room, a larger fitness room with all the latest equipment and the addition of a fourth beauty treatment room designed for couples. Serenity and a tailored environment will be the inspiration for the spa, where a choice of à la carte beauty treatments will be available, with a musical background and a scent chosen by the guest.
