Pietro Perugino (born Pietro Vannucci) (1446–1524), the leading painter of the Umbrian school, developed some of the qualities that found classic expression in the High Renaissance. Raphael was his most famous pupil.

If you already have been to Rome and Florence, seen major attractions of Venice and Milan, if you are in love with Italy, want to get more of its delicious flavor but stay aside of touristy spots, Perugia is the one you should try. Hard to find any place in Italy which would be so full of contemporary life (the capital of Umbria is a modern city, home of international university and holder of famous jazz festival) but then would be so much authentic Italian, boast such a rich history and heritage in architecture, museums, and monuments dating from the Etruscan and Roman times.

In the old town perched on the top of the hill one can enjoy walking in the streets so narrow that lovers could lean and kiss across them, or eat pasta in osteria carved out of the Etruscan wall. Staying in five-star, extremely luxury Hotel Brufani Palace in the heart of Perugia, one can enjoy swimming downstairs in a pool with transparent floor revealing the Etruscan artifacts underneath and then order modern cocktails in elegant English-style bar upstairs.

That's all about Perugia!

Perugia is a great spot to be for those who like to explore country side of Umbria (and even Tuscany) still staying in the deluxe hotel surrounding with nightlife, shopping and modern facilities. Capital of Umbria is ringed by famous vineyards and delightful little hilltop medieval towns like Assisi and Spoleto to visit and see, and most of them are just half of hour drive from the main piazza of Perugia (considered one of the most beautiful squares in Italy) with its splendid buildings, elegant shops and lovely restaurants and bars. This city is literally located in the heart of Italy and has something unique to offer for everyone: wine and food, Renaissance and modern art, jazz and chocolate (in October there is a nine-day Eurochocolate festival takes place), antique and fashion shopping, lovely Italian language to learn and world-wide famous black truffles to try, real Italian la dolce vita to explore and participate with gusto and comfort.
