The Hotel Sacher Wien, founded in 1876 by Eduard Sacher, son of the inventor of the Original Sacher-Torte is a truely Austrian institution. The hotel is now privately owned by the family Gurtler and their main objective is to make come true all the expections you associate with the name "Hotel Sacher". Luxury and tradition, perfect service and cordial staff, style and taste. This and much more is what you may expect in plenty if you stay at the Hotel Sacher Wien. All rooms and suites are individually furnished with antiquities and decorated with original paintings. It goes without saying that the technical facilities hotel guests are used to finding at luxurious hotels are all included.

Along with my husband's sisters and their children, our family took a recent trip to Austria. The highlight was undoubtedly the privately owned (by Guertler family) Hotel Sacher Wien in Vienna, an Old World jewel within easy walking distance of sights, shopping and restaurants. No two guestrooms are alike, and all have been lovingly and personally decorated. You'll want to visit the on-site cafe for a taste of the renowned Original Sacher-Torte. The adults indulged in a fine dinner at Rote Bar before going out to the opera - don't forget to reserve your tickets early for the Vienna State Opera! |

In 1876, Eduard Sacher founded the Hotel Sacher in Vienna. He was the son of the creator of the Original Sacher-Torte, a unique chocolate cake. Soon after its creation, the Sacher became a world famous meeting point for politicians, artists and the aristocracy. Since 1934, the hotel is privately run and owned by the Gürtler family, who is very keen on maintaining the hotel’s old tradition. A simple glance from its windows shows the hotel’s special location. It is right in the city centre, close to the pedestrian shopping area Kärtnerstraße, opposite the Opera House and only a tiny walk away from St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the Hofburg and the elegant Ringstraße, a road which boasts Vienna’s major sites, like the Burgtheater and the City Hall. From October 2005, our traditional hotel will thus boast a total of 152 elegant rooms and suites. With the two new top floors (floors 6 and 7) we are now able to offer 42 additional "Sacher light" rooms. Designed by interior designer Pierre Yves Rochon in cooperation with Dkfm. Elisabeth Gürtler, these new rooms have a splendid view of the city. Special attention has been paid to providing maximum comfort and the latest in technical equipment: all rooms feature wireless LAN, a Dolby Surround system, roof terraces, marble bathrooms with separate shower and toilet (some also have a bidet) as well as two washbasins, under-floor heating, illuminated vanity mirrors and plasma TV. But the 110 "old" rooms which are located on floors 1 to 4 are beautifully equipped too – elegant furniture, choice antiques and fine fabrics create a warm and luxurious atmosphere. Moreover, beautiful paintings and and other decorative pieces of art give each room its own unique character and style. An attractive addition to the Hotel Sacher Wien: the new Sacher Spa area, designed and planned by leading international experts, was opened in December 2005. Weary guests are able to relax in a spa area including a gym. In 1876, Eduard Sacher founded the Hotel Sacher in Vienna.
