Located in the heart of the city center, the hotel completed a $35 million dollar renovation and shortly thereafter was named to Conde Nast's Gold List. This hotel is for the most discriminating of travelers.Decorated in a melding of Empire, Regency adn lousi XV styles, the hotel never forgets it is in the heart of colorful, vibrant Rome.

Each guest room is specially named for a Roman landmark, and features a mural representing that landmark, and each room has its own Murano glass chandelier, as well as all of the special luxurious amenities of a five star hotel.

We're currently on vacation in Rome and having a wonderful time. We're staying at the St. Regis Grand Hotel, which is, indeed, in my opinion, one of the most well-run, luxurious hotels in the world. A few years ago, The St. Regis chain (part of Starwood) took the fabled old Grand Hotel of Rome and poured hundreds of millions of dollars into restoring it to its 19th century grandeur. (The project was the subject of an extensive article in Architectural Digest at that time.) Under the skillful and dedicated direction of the hotel's Managing Director, Michele Frignani, the hotel's staff has been providing us daily with friendly, efficient service that rivals, if not exceeds, the service that we have received in any of the other fine hotels that we have stayed in around the world over the years.

This is being penned from Rome, Italy. After three weeks in Europe's great hotels and dining at some of its best restaurants, I continue to feel proud that South Africa delivers hospitality and cuisine that matches Europe's best.
