My husband and I spent four wonderful days at Fonteverde Natural Spa Resort. It sits in a hill town in Tuscany and has attracted visitors for centuries with its warm, naturally healing waters - making even a wintertime dip in the pool a pleasing experience! The former Medicean residence offers renowned anti-aging treatments (some with local olive oil as a main ingredient), traditional Tuscan cuisine (healthful, and sinfully delicious), and a lovely setting amidst olive trees and Val d'Orcia Park. From here, take day trips to Umbria to explore its many quaint towns and villages.

Offering wonderful views of the surrounding valley, the Restaurant Ferdinando I serves an assortment of refined Italian cuisine and a selection of calorie-controlled dishes. New 2005 - the La corte grill restaurant with traditional dishes of the Tuscan countryside.

Each day, live music can be enjoyed while sipping a cool drink in the pianobar or the terrace bar.

Additional facilities include three well-equipped meeting rooms and an intimate 11th Century chapel built on the ruins of an ancient pagan temple dedicated to Igea, the goddess of health. The chapel is available for stylish social or business gatherings. At the hotel’s spa centre, medical consultations can be booked to assess the guest’s general state of health following the principles of traditional Chinese medicine.

Outdoor activities include mountain biking, walking tours, horse riding and golf. The impressive archeological sites of Sovana and Chiusi are just a short drive from the hotel, and guided tours are available if pre-booked.
